Random Things (Photos)
On the way from Abepura to Jayapura. green green hills. blue blue sky. my pretty Papua. |
I hope they remain friends up until now |
Pasar mama-mama up town, where I usually buy fruit. They only open after the sun goes down, so this is what you'll find if you pay a visit during the day |
When was the last time you got invitation wrapped in a perfumed envelope? I just got one this afternoon. and it successfully brings me back to the 90s. |

Friday (Photos)
A little sparrow caught playing in the office's front yard. Her wings are not well-developed yet, so what she did was jumping around and wait for her ma to fly her to the nest |
The 4th of July (Photos)
putting whatever I have in the fridge equaled french toast with sprinkled oregano, sliced banana and cheese spread |
Papua
Just found out after reading a lonely planet book and a little googling, that the word 'papua' is derived from Malay word papuwah, which means frizzled like wool.
So orang papuwah means wooly-haired men.

Sunday (Photos)
Watched Persipura vs. Semen Padang at Mandala Stadium.
it was my first time watching a soccer match live.
Persipura is the town's heroes. I think nothing can unite the citizens of Jayapura better than Persipura. people from all over the town came and wore red jerseys. every where I looked, it was all red. amazing.
Les Plages v.2: Pasir Dua Beach
I remember during my job interview, my boss mentioned that Papua has more public holidays than Jakarta. I never think about that, until last Friday, my colleague asked about my plan for the long weekend.
'Long weekend? What long weekend?' I said.
'Sunday is the 1st day of Pantekosta, and Monday is the 2nd day. All schools and government offices are closed. People go to church and attend mass.' She explained.
The good thing of having a surfer boss is, he always wants to check the tide whenever possible.
So knowing Monday is holiday, he took me to the beach again.
This time, we went to to Pasir Dua Beach.
Took us 10 minutes from Angkasa to get there.

Les Plages v.1: Base G and Skouw
During my first days in Papua, my boss took me to visit some beaches.
To tell you the truth, I'm not a beach person. I don't surf nor dive.
But still, I like the feel when my foot step in the soft sand, and always mesmerized by the pretty sky.
So how can I say no?
So how can I say no?
Aloha
Ehm, this is my first posting using the blogspot.
I decided to wave goodbye to my dear posterous, my bucket of wanders for the last a year and a half.
The main reason is because posterous' loading takes ages. Seriously, the page seems to be very heavy, it takes minutes and minutes to post or edit an entry. It's a painful torture for those who doesn't have the luxury of a fast internet connection (me, for example).
Another thing is, I don't know why, but posterous just doesn't work well with the google chrome. I've been having difficulties in posting and editing thru chrome. The format changes like both are not well-synchronized.
Lastly (yet the important one for me), it's because posterous has (very) limited template customization, and it just drives me crazy.
Hmmm I supposed the end is always a beginning of something right?
So let's welcome my self to the new bucket :)
